Rome, May 14, 2026 – ITA Airways is expanding its offering with the introduction of the new Green Fares, that include a contribution dedicated to supporting initiatives aimed at reducing CO₂ emissions.
With just one click, passengers choosing Economy Green, Premium Economy Green or Business Green fare available on domestic, European and selected intercontinental routes can support certified environmental protection projects and contribute to the future adoption of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF).
On European and domestic routes, the estimated share of emissions per passenger is offset as follows: 80% through contributions to high-quality climate protection projects and 20% through support for the use of SAF on future flights. Green Fares are also available on several intercontinental routes operated by ITA Airways. On these routes, the model provides for a different allocation of the contribution: 10% supporting the adoption of SAF and 90% supporting climate protection projects. Green Fares are not available on flights to/from Japan, the United States and Canada.
In addition to the contribution to initiatives supporting the environment, Green Fares offer passengers several additional benefits, including extra Miles and Points within the Miles&More loyalty program, greater flexibility for booking changes, and all the advantages already included in Economy or Business Saver fares.
“Today, people do not only want to fly and discover the world, they also want to protect it,” said Giovanna Di Vito, Chief Culture, Sustainability, Customer Assistance & Non Commercial Partners ITA Airways. “With Green Fares, we are responding to this need by making it simple and accessible to contribute to initiatives aimed at mitigating environmental impact. This product represents an important step forward in our journey toward reducing CO2 emissions and reflects our commitment, shared with the airlines of the Lufthansa Group, to promoting increasingly responsible practices integrated into the travel experience”.
Achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 is one of ITA Airways' strategic objectives. This commitment is being pursued through several initiatives, including fleet renewal with more efficient aircraft — currently 74% of the fleet is made up of new-generation aircraft — the increasing use of Sustainable Aviation Fuels, and the continuous improvement of operational efficiency.
The launch of Green Fares is also part of the broader process of harmonizing ITA Airways’ customer experience within the Lufthansa Group. Among the most recent initiatives is the launch of the new “ONCE” platform for online check-in via the ITA Airways website and app, simplifying the check-in process and aligning it with the Group’s airlines while completing ITA Airways’ adoption of the Group’s digital services ecosystem.
The new Green Fares are available on ita-airways.com, on the ITA Airways app and through the Company’s official sales channels.
